Nokia Seeks To Accelerate Industry 4.0 Expansion With Expanded Industrial Edge Applications

New Applications Will Assist With On-Premises Operational Technology

Nokia has released four third-party applications for MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) to assist enterprises in securely connecting, collecting, and analyzing data from their on-premises operational technology (OT) assets.

By adopting Nokia’s OT edge ecosystem-neutral approach, which incorporates innovation from various digitalization enablers, asset-heavy industries can accelerate their digital transformation and benefit the most. These new applications also use the recently introduced GPU capability on Nokia MXIE, a powerful on-premises OT edge solution that allows for real-time data processing closest to the source while preserving data sovereignty.

What Is Nokia MX Industrial Edge (MXIE)?

Nokia’s MX Industrial Edge hardware platform is designed to deliver top-tier performance for complex industrial workloads through the use of resource optimization and 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors. It features an end-to-end high-availability architecture for unparalleled reliability and resilience, and it also provides support for geographical redundancy to ensure continuous business operations.

MX Industrial Edge’s support for graphics processing units (GPUs), which enables versatile inference acceleration, is critical for enterprises that require real-time video monitoring, alerts, and advanced video analytics for mission-critical applications, such as quality assurance and safety.

MXIE also places a strong emphasis on enterprise security with app-to-app data isolation and TLS-based communications. To maintain stable high performance, the platform offers integrated tools for end-to-end service management, combining platform resource management, network QoS management and prioritization, multi-APN support, and dynamic feedback on network resource availability.
