IXR-R Series

This series consists of four platforms – the 7250 IXR-R6dl, IXR-R6d, IXR-R6, and the IXR-R4 – which allow service providers to swiftly develop and deploy new services while prolonging the lifespan of their existing infrastructure investments. Similarly, public and private enterprises can efficiently expand their aggregation networks by leveraging these routers.

Prepared for Expansion

With 400GE and 100GE ports facilitating high-speed uplinks, these routers enable cost-effective networking architectures for access and aggregation. As 5G mobile and telco cloud infrastructures adopt 25GE interfaces, the native 25GE ports on the 7250 IXR-e series can accommodate 1GE, 10GE, or 25GE transceivers. Supporting GE SFPs in all SFP+ cages, the 7250 IXR-e facilitates seamless migrations from 1GE to 10GE to 25GE rates without requiring router replacements. Additionally, the 7250 IXR-e2 offers support for multi-400/100GE connectivity.

Compact and Energy-Efficient

All variants of the 7250 IXR-e series feature a compact (1RU) form factor and support extended temperature range (ETR) operation, making them suitable for outdoor cabinet installations. With front-accessible interfaces and power supplies, and front-to-back airflow configuration for the 7250 IXR-e2, as well as side-to-side airflow for the ETSI 300 mm compliant 7250 IXR-e and IXR-ec, these routers are designed for optimal cooling efficiency. Equipped with a fan filter (7250 IXR-e and IXR-ec) and redundant fans across all variants, the series enhances system longevity and reduces maintenance costs.

Differentiated Service Support

The 7250 IXR-e series is designed to support low-latency applications while offering ample buffer memory for delay-tolerant applications. Its granular per-service and per-forwarding class policing and queuing features enable differentiated quality of service (QoS), rendering the series well-suited for any-G aggregation and fixed-mobile network convergence scenarios.

IXR-X Series

Nokia’s 7250 IXR-X series routers are high-speed, high-density 1RU platforms ideally suited for deployment as leaf nodes in data centers and multi-access edge computing nodes. They also serve valuable roles in access and aggregation and facilitate 5G interconnectivity.

The IXR-X series comprises three platforms: the 7250 IXR-Xs, 7250 IXR-X1, and 7250 IXR-X3. These routers enable network operators to scale up bandwidth to meet future growth requirements efficiently.

High-Density Aggregation

Routers in the Nokia 7250 IXR-X series offer up to 14.4 Tb/s of system capacity and feature high-performance interfaces, including 400GE, 100GE, 50GE, 40GE, 25GE, and 10GE, enabling networks to scale to accommodate evolving traffic demands. Despite their high performance, these compact routers consume low watts per gigabit, translating to ongoing cost savings while providing high port density and minimizing rack space.

Utilizing a common fixed-form design with options for port interfaces, power supplies, and airflow, the 7250 IXR-X series routers offer versatility to meet various network requirements. Redundant fans enhance resiliency, making them ideal for carrier data center applications where flexible port interfaces support aggregation layers.

The 7250 IXR-X series combines low nodal latency with advanced synchronization features to cater to latency-sensitive applications and meet stringent 4G and 5G fronthaul requirements. Advanced QoS features ensure high-priority packets traverse the network without queuing delay, making them suitable for centralized and virtualized RAN applications, BBU aggregation, and edge computing applications.
